A 250 person, 14 hour hackathon for
community college students across California.
HackCC is California's statewide hackathon created for community college students, providing a platform to explore new technologies, build innovative projects, and collaborate with peers.
Unlike university hackathons, HackCC bridges the gap for 250 students who often lack access to these opportunities, fostering an inclusive, hands-on environment where creativity and technology solves real-world problems.

Applications are now open for all California community college students! If you're looking to take advantage of an exciting opportunity, be sure to submit your application between October 13th and October 31st. This is the official application period, Don’t wait until the last minute—start and complete your application as soon as possible to avoid missing out!
A Hackathon is an event where developers, designers, and tons of other tech interested people can come together to build projects within a short timeframe (14 hours at HackCC), to discover new opportunities and win awesome prizes.
Participants can form teams of up to 4 members. There will be a team formation event at the beginning of HackCC to help everyone find teammates. Please note: HackCC is an 18+ event, meaning all participants must be 18 years or older to attend.
Attending HackCC is completely free — no cost to apply, no cost to attend. Last year, 103 students from 18 community colleges competed for over $2,020 in prizes, all without spending a dime. Focus on what matters: building, learning, and collaborating.
HackCC 2025 at MiraCosta College was our biggest year yet. 179 applications. 103 attendees from 18 community colleges across California. 29 teams competed across AI/ML, Social Good, Game Development, and Overall Innovation — with $2,020 in prizes awarded and every participant receiving a Boot.dev coding pass.

Last year, I grouped up and participated in HackCC as my first hackathon where we won first place building StudyCCC. This led to joining their team and fast forward to HackCC 2025, another success! The hackathon went amazing and was a full-circle moment..

I had the absolute honor of keynoting HackCC at MiraCosta College.... and wow, the vibes were unreal. 250+ community college students all fired up, building cool stuff, chasing ideas, pushing past comfort zones... it was pure SoCal energy: curious, creative, and just a little bit chaotic in the best way.
